As for the code readers, dozens of models of these devices are available. They come in several different designs, depending on their intended use. They are classified in several ways, depending on their functionality or design, the method of communication (wired or wireless) or the type of codes to be read (barcodes – 1D or 2D), as well as the reading technology used (laser, diode or vision).
A slightly more sophisticated device is the data terminal, which is also equipped with a code reader. Modern terminals are devices with which we can not only read, count and filter the codes on the goods labels, but also continuously record the information read in the database. The ability to transfer data into the system is one of the elements that differentiates an ordinary barcode reader from a mobile terminal. While the reader can only read and display the data from the label, the terminal gives the ability to store and process this data using installed software.
